Studio Policy
An effective learning environment requires instructors as well as students & parents to give their best efforts and commitments. In order to maximize learning, each individual must take responsibility for his/her own work and behavior. You will be instructed to read over this studio policy prior to starting lessons. Starting lessons mean you agree/consent and will follow the Studio Policy (regardless if you decide to actually read it over or not).
Studio/Tuition Policy
Tuition Fees are calculated monthly. Online payments (Zelle/Venmo/Paypal) are due by the 25th of the current month for the upcoming month. All other forms of payments are due during the lesson before the upcoming month. This is to hold students accountable and ensure that this policy will be followed.
If lessons are missed (on the student’s end) for any reason, please notify the instructor of your absence prior to your lesson. This includes, but not limited to, sickness, emergency, work meetings, one week travels, other commitments, etc. Due to the high volume of students and limited availability, the instructor may or may not be able to provide a make-up lesson (and no, the studio will not push out make up lessons to the upcoming months). However, notifying the instructor earlier will ensure a higher chance of finding a make-up lesson. In any case, you will not be reimbursed/credited for the missed lesson. Make-up lessons are given at the discretion of the instructor, as tuition covers the instructor's time.
If lessons are missed (on the instructor's end) for any reason, the instructor will notify the student and provide available time slots for a make-up lesson. If none of the time slots are feasible, lesson credits will be given for the following month.
One month prior notice is required to discontinue classes. Be aware that your spot will be filled by students on the waiting list. Discontinuing classes with less than one month's notice given will forfeit all and any remaining lessons (including lessons missed by student and instructor). Lessons will cease the day of being notified.
If you have travel/vacation plans or any other reason that may cause you to miss consecutive lessons (especially over summer/holidays), please notify the instructor at least two weeks in advance. If you are missing just one lesson due to travels, it will be counted as missing lessons on the students end.
For travel durations one month or less (missing consecutive lessons), you will not be charged for lessons during travel duration, however, you will be responsible for paying tuition for the month that you return, prior to leaving:
(Example 1) Traveling to India for the month of June. At the end of May, you will be responsible for July's Tuition.
(Example 2) Traveling to Europe mid June, returning mid July. At the end of May, you will be responsible for June/July’s Tuition (excluding travel dates).
For travel durations longer than one month, you will be responsible for 50% of the regular tuition fee for each missed lesson, paid prior to travel. Similar to rent, utilities, memberships, you still pay fees despite traveling. This is done to keep your time slot, as the instructor is not able to give your slot away while awaiting your return:
(Example 1) Traveling to India from June to August. At the end of May, you will be responsible for 50% of each lesson missed from June to August. Please be mindful of the Instructor’s time. With over 70 students weekly, It is not the instructor's responsibility to remind students of their lesson. If you miss your lesson time (regular weekly lessons or make-up lessons), that lesson will be automatically forfeited as you are paying for the instructor's time. A no-show or forgetting your lesson (including make-up lessons) does not constitute another make up lesson or credit.
You are here to learn, not to argue. Instructor reserves the right to drop, or refuse service to any students/parents from the studio for breaking studio policy without any reimbursement.
Liability and Consent
The Studio is not responsible for any bodily harm, injury, or death resulting from any activities during lessons. The Instructor will be released from all liability for injuries sustained or illnesses contracted while attending or participating in music lessons and activities.
The Studio may take photographs of students, lessons, events for promotional use in online and print materials. It is the studio's policy not to include the names of any individual in any captions.
Please notify the Instructor for students who may not be physically/mentally fit but still have a willingness to learn. There will be an assessment prior to starting lessons. If you do not notify the instructor, the instructor reserves the right to drop the student from the studio. Transparency is the best policy!
Student/Parent Expectations
Arrive on time for class with all required materials. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes late to class will be sent home without reimbursement. It is not the instructor's duty to remind students of their lesson/make up times.
Come to class prepared, having thoroughly practiced all materials in order to make the most out of your lesson and ensure further improvement. Weekly practice is expected. Commitment to learning music requires time for the lesson and practice. Improvement from just lessons alone will be minimal.
Have respect for yourself and other students. If you are sick, do not come to class (opt for an online lesson instead). This will be strictly enforced. Even the slightest cough poses a high risk of spreading germs to others. Unfortunately, if the instructor gets sick, it results in online lessons for all other students. This type of behavior is incredibly selfish. The instructor will not tolerate anyone who displays such poor moral standards, and will immediately drop the student if this type of behavior is shown for the safety of others.
It is important to note that commitment to improving your musical abilities requires respectful behavior and a positive, open minded attitude.
Parents are welcome to sit in and enjoy the lesson. Please do not create a distracting environment if you plan on sitting in. Please do not interfere with instruction. Always keep a positive attitude when encouraging your child.
Respect is mutual. This studio does not welcome rude/unreasonable clients. Please keep in mind that the instructor is teaching your child, and that providing opportunities for success is at the discretion of the instructor, therefore your attitude determines how much the instructor wants you to succeed. People often forget that a students sole responsibility is to learn.
Have fun!
